As you may have noticed, AFC Urgent Care Edgewater is now providing telemedicine services to ensure that patients can continue to get care while at home. The service works by booking an appointment online through our designated portal, and then meeting with a provider virtually.
Telemedicine allows our team to evaluate a variety of acute urgent care needs including seasonal illness symptoms, skin irritations and rashes, sinus pain, congestion, headaches, gastrointestinal issues, fever, and more. Unless it is a medical emergency or a moderate injury, telemedicine is extremely helpful for patients to receive immediate care for their  symptoms.
Since telemedicine is delivered through virtual means, many patients are not sure if they have the resources needed to get this type of care. The good news for a majority of patients is that telemedicine access doesn’t require much more than your current internet. Booking telemedicine is useful and efficient, which helps you save time and money on your medical expenses.
Now, more than ever, patients need affordable and safe medical services while managing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Here is all you need to book telemedicine at AFC Urgent Care Edgewater.

An internet connection and internet-connected device/phone

Patients that want to book a telemedicine appointment just need an internet connection and a connected device.
All you need is a desktop/laptop computer or smartphone with an internet connection to book a telemedicine visit.  All smartphone is needed for all visits to receive text message confirmations but the virtual visit may be done on either device. As long as you have audio and video capabilites, our physicians can provide a virtual visit for you or your family member.
Patients don’t have to download any additional software as well, since our telemedicine portal is hosted all through an internet connection. Simply book online on our Solv Health portal in order to access telemedicine through your phone or computer.

Covered by insurance?

Most health insurance packages in the state of Maryland cover telemedicine services as more insurance carriers and healthcare providers offer telemedicine. Costs vary according to plans; some offer telehealth coverage with no copays and others require out-of-pocket costs in the form of copays, coinsurance or deductibles.  Please check with your carrier for your plan specific coverage.
A self-pay option is available for patients without health insurance or for those who choose not to process their visits through insurance.
